After 115 years of football at Love Street, St Mirren played their final  match at the ground on 3rd January 2009. A capacity crowd of 10,189 saw the Saints draw 0-0 against Motherwell in a match more noted for the display of the referee. After the match former players took to the centre circle before the release of black & white balloons and a fireworks display.
